[im Original] Dear Susanne;

It’s been a long time since we’ve written each other. I hope you & your family are fine. My family are fine. How’s the weather in Klingenstr. Yesterday we had a terrible storm. I’m afraid of thunder & lightning. My girlfriend & I were at her Church’s picnic at the time of the storm. We had a wonderful time there. We went swimming twice, before supper & after the storm was over. The water was as warm as soup. I hoped you passed in school. I passed into Grade 10. I didn’t have to write my final exams because I got an average of 66% or better in all subjects from my last 2 reports (Christmas & Easter). My parents were very proud. I haven’t heard from Brigitte but I suppose she passed. She learns quickly. The last time I heard from her is at Christmas when I received a card from her. She has no phone so I can’t phone her. I know the street she lives on but lost the number of the house. I don’t want to just drop in because I might come when she is not home or has company. If you know the number of her house would you please tell me it. I suppose by the time you receive this letter & shall know it but just in case I don’t. I suppose you know she has a baby brother whose name is Tom. I hope you have a nice summer. My family is going to Manitoba to visit my grandparents. It has been 3 years since we’ve seen them. I am looking forward to the trip. We leave July 20 on the train and arrive in Winnipeg the next night. From Winnipeg we go by bus to Melitta and then by car to Lyleton where my grandparents live. They live on a farm. In Grade 10 we get our books free. I am taking the 5 year course. From there I’m going to college. I’m sending you a photo of me. The last one I sent you was not very good. This one is of me taken by the school. You bay so many for a dollar. I suppose you’ve heard of the World’s Fair in New York. From the pictures I have seen it must be very beautiful. I would like very much to see. In 1967 it is in Montreal. It must cost millions to build it. I do not know much about your country but I as you do about Toronto want to learn. In Grade 10 or 11 we should take Germany in Geography. What do you think of the Beatles. They cause quite a rumble. I don’t think they can sing very well but their appearance & <the> rhythm of <the> songs makes them popular.
