[im Original:] Dear Susanne,

I was happy to receive your letter. I did not have much trouble reading your letter. I hope you have no trouble reading my letter. I am 13 years old. I am in Grade 8. In September I will go to High School. Brigitte tells me you were a very close friend of hers before she moved here. I hope to become a good fried of yours from our letters. Brigitte is getting along in school very well. She is liked by everyone. In our school we learn Mathmatics, Spelling, Reading, Writing, Grammar, History, Science, Geography, Gym., Music, Sewing and Cooking, Arts, Speech Drama and Literature.

Brigitte tells me you go to school just in the morning, Monday to Saturday. Here we go in the morning and afternoon, Monday to Friday. I’m afraid I do not know much about Germany, but I hope to learn from your letters.

My father is <a> machinist. He works in a factory. I have two brothers. One is Billy, who is nine and the other is Tommy, who is six.

I send my regards to you,

Your new penpal,

Gail W.

PS – I have enclosed a picture of me. I will send you a better picture when I find one.
