Briefe an Susanne, Kommentar                                             Brieftext

219. Ingrid T.                                                    Brighton, 16.7.1967

[im Original:] Dear Susanne,

Thank you very much for your welcome letter.

I am glad you have managed to settle your studying, it has certainly been confusing for you – especially happening when you are already in this country – in the school you are attending a State school, and do you take all the lessons?

Life is certainly not dull, with six children and a dog, it is perhaps fortunate that it is 5 girls, and not 5 boys in the family.

I am afraid that we had to have Lassie put to sleep by the vet almost a month ago – she had a coronary attack and as it was a very serious one, the vet said she wouldn’t recover. She was almost 13 years old, but still chased the cats, and I missed her terribly at first – I’ve got used to it a little now.

Well, with regard’ to your visit to Brighton, I quite agree that it is a very long journey to do in one day – well the last of our students, a german boy, goes home on 25th August, which is a Friday, so if you and your friend would like to come for the week-end from Friday until perhaps Sunday or Monday – it is up to you, if I charge you 10/- a night each, would that be all right – that would be all food as well. –

I thought that I would let you know how we are fixed before you go on your holidays, then it gives you time to make any plans.

Well, I will sign off now, and let me know whether the dates are all right for you.

All the very best, and we look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in the not too distant future.

Sincerely,

Mr & Mrs T.,

Carole & Michael.
